Vol. 459 No. 1

Written Answers. - Derryinver (Galway) Pier.

Éamon Ó Cuív

Question:

116 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for the Marine when consideration of a submission from Galway County Council to his Department in relation to Derryinver Pier, Letterfrack, Connemara, County Galway, will be finalised; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17932/95]

A scheme of improvements at a cost of £60,000 is at present being completed at Derryinver. The investment now under way will enhance facilities available for local fishermen.

Galway County Council has forwarded proposals for further investment in the pier which have been drawn up by the local development committee. Given the level of funding available and the current priorities for essential works at a number of major fishery harbours I regret that I am not in a position at this time to contemplate the provision of additional funding at Derryinver.
