Vol. 459 No. 5

Written Answers. - Invalidity Pensions.

Joe Walsh

Question:

82 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare if the rules of behaviour for persons in receipt of invalidity pension are to be relaxed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18416/95]

Following a review of the application of the rules of behaviour to invalidity pensioners undertaken earlier this year, a greater degree of flexibility has been introduced. Pensioners can now engage in a range of work of a rehabilitative or therapeutic nature and some 170 pensioners have availed of this facility since the beginning of the year. Such activity must however continue in all cases to receive the prior consent of the Department.
