Vol. 459 No. 7

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Legislation.

Ivor Callely

Question:

123 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of Bills published by his Department for each of the years 1992 to date in 1995; the titles of the Bills; the number of these Bills that were passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas; if he has satisfied himself with progress in 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18687/95]

My Department published a total of seven Bills during the period 1992 to date, all of which were passed by both Houses of the Oireachtas.

The titles and year of enactment of the Bills were:

1992 (1 Bill)

— Social Welfare Act, 1992.

1993 (3 Bills)

— Social Welfare Act, 1993.

— Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993.

— Social Welfare (No. 2) Act, 1993.

1994 (1 Bill)

— Social Welfare Act, 1994.

1995 (2 Bills)

— Social Welfare Act, 1995.

— Social Welfare (No. 2) Act, 1995.

I am very pleased to have been able to introduce two Bills this year which have already been enacted. In addition, the Government recently approved the text of the Pensions (Amendment) Bill, 1995. This Bill, which amends the provisions of the Pensions Act, 1990, will be published later this week.
