Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - Consultant Paediatrician Appointment.

Noel Davern

Question:

172 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Health when he will allocate funds for the appointment of a consultant paediatrician to St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, County Tipperary; and if his attention has been drawn to the urgency of such an appointment. [1078/96]

Limerick East): The appointment of medical consultants to St. Joseph's Hospital in Clonmel, is a matter for the South-Eastern Health Board in the first instance. Consultant appointments are made having regard to service requirements in association with my Department and after due consideration by Comhairle na n-Ospidéal.

Any request for the appointment of a Paediatrician at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel will be considered as sympathetically as possible in the context of the many competing demands for resources throughout the health services and the board's priorities for new development.
