Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - Bective Abbey, County Meath.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

230 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the progress, if any, made in relation to Bective Abbey, County Meath in the past twelve months; and the proposals, if any, that are in place for 1996. [1149/96]

Bective Abbey is in a good state of presentation. The National Monuments and Historic Properties Service is in consultation with Meath County Council concerning realignment of the public road fronting the abbey site in order to eliminate the dangerous bend at this point. When the council's road plans are known, it will be possible to draw up proposals for the provision of visitor facilities, including car parking, at the site.
