Question:

308 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Environment the projects that will be funded under Subhead F12 of his Department's Vote as published in the 1996 Estimates for Public Services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1467/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 246, 247 and 308 together.

Subhead F.12 contains a provision of £6.5 million in respect of the EU Special Support Programme for Peace and Reconciliation in Northern Ireland and the Border counties. Part of this provision will be used to finance urban and rural regeneration measures such as the development of open spaces and derelict sites, landscaping of streets and squares, conservation of buildings, provision of environmental infrastructure, support for tourism projects and improvement of local transport. The provision will also be used to finance improvement works on non-national roads in accordance with criteria set out in the programme and restoration of Aghalane bridge, an important crossBorder link on the N3 national primary road.
Grant schemes under which urbanrural regeneration and non-national road projects will be funded are currently being prepared in my Department and will be notified to local authorities as soon as possible.

Question:

248 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for the Environment the services funded under Subhead D2 of Vote 25 in 1995; and the services that will be funded under Subhead D2 of Vote 25 in 1996. [19347/96]

Details of the services funded in 1995 from subhead D.2 are set out in the Revised Estimates for Public Services for that year. Copies are available in the Oireachtas Library.

A similar range of services will be funded under the subhead in the current year. Details will be set out in the Revised Estimates for Public Services in due course.
