Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

328 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education if she intends to make funding available in the 1996 Estimates for the new science block at St. Finbar's Seminary, Farranferris, Cork. [19290/96]

I propose to answer Questions Nos. 310 and 328 together. An extension is currently being planned for St. Finbarr's Seminary, Farranferris, Cork. The outline sketch scheme submitted by the school authorities is currently being considered and my Department's observations will be conveyed to the school authorities as soon as possible. When all the issues relating to the outline sketch scheme have been fully examined a planning briefing meeting will be arranged between my Department and the school authorities design team to initiate the architectural planning for the project.

The question of providing capital funds for building will not arise until the planning process has been fully completed. Every effort is being made to have the planning of the extension completed as quickly as possible.
