Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - Annual Reports.

Micheál Martin

Question:

319 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if she has determined the form of the annual report to be made by the governing bodies of regional technical colleges: and if she has consulted with vocational education committee's regarding this matter. [19210/95]

Section 14 (1) of the Regional Technical Colleges Act, 1992 states:

The governing body of a college shall, as soon as may be after the end of each academic year, prepare and submit to the vocational education committee and to the Minister in such form as may be determined by the Minister a report of its proceedings during that year.

On foot of this provision, my Department wrote to each regional technical college in May, 1995 setting out the form of the annual report. A copy of the form of the annual report was also sent to the Irish Vocational Education Association for information.
There is no statutory requirement to consult with the vocational education committees in this matter.
