Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - School's Accommodation.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

333 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Education the way in which the allocation under Subhead K1 of Vote 27 was spent in 1995; and the purpose for the allocation under Subhead K1 of Vote 27 in the 1996 Estimates. [19360/96]

Subhead K1 provides for the accommodation needs of pupils and teachers in 3,300 primary schools. The outturn for subhead K1 for 1995 was £25 million. This money was spent on major primary school contracts; projects funded under the minor and emergency grant scheme; prefabricated classrooms and sites for new schools. The 1996 provision will be divided between these categories of work, in accordance with priorities.
