Written Answers. - Classroom Assistants.
The school referred to by the Deputy has had the services of a childcare assistant funded by my Department since 1979 and is also availing of an assistant provided by FÁS under the community employment scheme. In the circumstances I am satisfied that the needs of the handicapped pupils attending the school are being adequately catered for and the allocation of additional childcare assistants is not warranted at this time.
