I propose to take the 24 questions tabled by the Deputy, i.e. Questions Nos. 423 to 446, inclusive, together. The information sought by the Deputy, which will involve the manual examination of up to 8,000 files, cannot be obtained in the time available. As much of the information that can be obtained will be collated and forwarded to the Deputy as soon as possible. However, I can inform the Deputy that it is not the practice that prisoners serving sentences for rape, incest, indecent assault or indecent assault on a minor (Questions Nos. 427 to 430 and 435 to 438) are given temporary release, even for such things as funerals of close family members.
