Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - Road Traffic Fines.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

452 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Justice the current use to which road traffic offence fines are put; her views on using the proceeds of such fines for defined improvement works on non-national roads; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1437/96]

Revenue accruing from fines in respect of road traffic offences is lodged to the Exchequer. State funding for non-national roads is primarily a matter for the Minister for the Environment.
