Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - Divorce Referendum Expenditure.

Tony Gregory

Question:

467 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will give details of any expenditure incurred by his Department in relation to the divorce referendum. [19314/96]

Any expenditure incurred by my Department concerning divorce was in respect of the normal publicity arising from the Social Welfare (No. 2) Act, 1995, which contained provisions amending social welfare schemes to come into effect in the event of the introduction of divorce. This covered a press conference, press releases and information leaflets. However, they related to social welfare legislation and not to the divorce referendum. The total cost was £6,306.51.
