Vol. 460 No. 3

Written Answers. - Investment Support.

Pat the Cope Gallagher

Question:

501 Mr. Gallagher (Donegal South-West) asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the plans, if any, he has to financially support the Northern Ireland and Border Counties Trade Investment Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1430/96]

While there are no such plans, or even provision in the Tourism and Trade Vote out of which financial support of this kind could be afforded, it was agreed following a meeting, which I attended, with representatives of the Northern Ireland and Border Counties Trade and Investment Council (NIBCTIC), during the course of a recent visit to Ireland, that the possibility of funding for NIBCTIC through the county enterprise boards might be further explored by them with the Department of Enterprise and Employment. The county enterprise boards are funded under the Operational Programme for Local Urban and Rural Development.
