Question:

533 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the estimated animals per thousand infected by TB in December 1993, December 1994 and December 1995. [19195/95]

The number of TB reactors disclosed per 1,000 animals tested for the years ended 1993, 1994 and 1995 were as follows: 1993, 2.9; 1994, 2.9; 1995, 3.3.

534 Mr. Cowen asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the main findings of the first ERAD survey carried out in relation to the TB eradication scheme; and the main findings of his Department's survey carried out in 1994 and published in July 1995. [19196/95]

Random samples of the rate of disclosure of tuberculin reactor cattle have been carried out since 1989. The objectives of these random samples are: to obtain an estimate of the rate of disclosure of reactors to the single intradermal comparative tuberculin test as conducted by veterinary inspectors and, using that estimate, to measure year to year changes in the rate of disclosure of reactors.

The results of these surveys are as follows:
