Written Answers. - Limerick Regional Technical College Building Programme.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

180 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education, in relation to the next phase of the Limerick regional technical college campus building, if she will confirm that this phase will begin in April/May 1996, which will be at the end of the current building programme; the expenditure which her Department has put aside for this next phase in addition to the local input of £8 million; the facilities, in addition to a canteen and students union offices, which will be involved; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1883/96]

During the past three years, an investment of over £10 million has been made in the provision of a major extension and additional capital resources for Limerick regional technical college. The 1996 capital provision for the college includes for the completion of phases 1 and 2 and for the planning of further new phases comprising lecture theatre, hall, canteen and student facilities. When planning has reached a more advanced stage and when final budgets have been established consideration will be given to setting aside the necessary funding for the project. A commencement date for the construction of the project will also be established at that stage.
