192 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education if she will provide equity between gaelscoileanna and primary schools; the proposals, if any, she has to provide an equal level of capitation grant to all primary schools and to provide an equal pupil-teacher ratio; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1972/96]
The general policy in relation to the matters raised by the Deputy has been set out clearly in the White Paper on Education.
In future, the funding of all primary schools will be put on the same basis, with additional funding for schools designated as disadvantaged. I will ensure this policy guides how my Department approaches specific aspects of the provision of resources to primary schools.
