Vol. 460 No. 6

Written Answers. - Rural Environment Protection Scheme.

Helen Keogh

Question:

81 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the delay in second payments to Teagasc clients under the REPS and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1842/96]

All REPS participants who have completed their first year in the scheme must make an application to my Department for the second year payment. This application must certify that they have complied with the conditions of the scheme during the first year. Furthermore, the application must be countersigned by the participant's REPS planner. This has been the cause of some delay in the submission of applications. This has been resolved in discussions my Department has had with Teagasc and the private planners.
