183 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the number of people charged under section 15 of the Misuse of the Drugs Act, 1977 to 1984, in 1995; the comparative figures for each of the years 1994, 1990, 1988 and 1985; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2444/96]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that the available information requested is as follows:

The number of proceedings under section 15 taken on indictment up to 1994 is not readily available. In 1994, 22 proceedings under section 15 were taken on indictment. Final figures for 1995 are not yet available.
