89 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Health whether he intends to amend the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978, in view of the fact that it relates to the registration of medical practitioners who have already been granted temporary registration; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Minister for Health (Mr. Noonan,

Limerick East): Work on the amendment of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1978, including consideration of its provisions relating to registration is at an advanced stage. I expect that this work will be completed shortly and that I will be in a position to bring forward amending legislation by the end of this year.
