Vol. 461 No. 1

Written Answers - Grant to County Tipperary School.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

137 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Education the reason an application for a grant towards the provision of a boiler and burner in a school (details supplied) in County Tipperary was not approved; the further reason the chairman of the local board of management has failed to receive even an acknowledgement to his correspondence to indicate when this grant will be made available; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2301/96]

The delay in approving the grant towards the heating system at the school to which the Deputy referred is due to an oversight in my Department. A grant has recently been sanctioned and the school authorities have been advised of this in a letter. A payable order will issue within the next fortnight. My Department's records confirm that the application for a replacement boiler and burner at the school was acknowledged on 29 November 1993.
