Vol. 461 No. 6

Written Answers. - Parking Rules.

Chris Flood

Question:

139 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Justice when the Garda Commissioner will complete the making of draft temporary rules regarding the parking of heavy goods vehicles in residential areas; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [3501/96]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities that draft temporary rules to prohibit the parking of heavy commercial vehicles in residential areas in the city and county of Dublin have been approved by the Attorney General. However, alternative parking sites for these vehicles must be provided by the local authorities concerned before the temporary rules can be made, with the approval of the Minister for the Environment.

Dublin Corporation, Dublin South County Council and Fingal County Council have identified suitable sites and these have been approved by the Garda authorities. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has not to date identified such sites.
