Vol. 461 No. 7

Written Answers. - Burren (Clare) Draft Plan.

Tony Killeen

Question:

167 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht when he will publish the report of the consultant and the steering group charged with preparing a draft plan for the Burren National Park, County Clare and the north Clare area. [3931/96]

The draft Burren National Park management plan was recently completed and submitted to me. The study comprises four elements: a strategy for the overall development of the North Clare area which will take account of the requirements of nature conservation as well as of the social and economic needs of the community of the area; a management plan for the Burren National Park; a nature conservation strategy for the proposed natural heritage areas; an executive summary.

The complete set of documents will be published on Thursday, 22 February 1996 and I look forward to receiving the views of interested parties on the proposals in these documents during the period ending on 16 May 1996.
