I have sought the advice of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment as to whether Stay Safe should be introduced as a separate programme at second level, as at primary, or whether the content of the primary Stay Safe programme should be suitably developed for second level schools and integrated into the relationships and sexuality education programme to be introduced at second level. In the latter context, the appropriate issues would be incorporated into the safety issues element of relationships and sexuality education and placed in the context of social, personal and health education.
I am awaiting the recommendations of the council on the matter.
