Question:

236 Mr. D. Wallace asked the Minister for Education the total expenditure by her Department on computer technology during 1995; the total figure for hardware and software; and the value of sales for the main ten suppliers in each instance. [3921/96]

The total direct expenditure by my Department on computer technology in 1995 was £1,715,623.72. This was made up to £629,218.48 in respect of equipment for use in my Department and £1,086,405.24 in respect of equipment for use in schools which was purchased directly by my Department.

The total figures for hardware and software were £1,562,850.48 and £152,773.24 respectively.

The following tables list the values of purchases made in 1995 from the main ten hardware and software suppliers respectively.
