258 Dr. McDaid asked the Minister for Social Welfare the total amount paid by employers on PRSI in 1994; the projected total amount due to be paid by employers on PRSI in 1995; the total cost to the Exchequer of the supplementary welfare system in 1994; and the projected total cost to the Exchequer of the supplementary welfare system in 1995. The total amount of PRSI (including the health and employment and training levies) paid by employers in 1994 and the provisional amount for 1995 are £1,124.5 million and £1,203 million respectively relating to more than one million employees.
The total cost to the Exchequer of the supplementary welfare allowance scheme in 1994 was £121 million while the provisional total cost in 1995 was £134 million.
