260 Mr. P. Gallagher (Laoighis-Offaly) asked the Minister for Social Welfare the equal treatment arrears payments made to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly; the further payments that are due; and when payment will be made. [3767/96]
Retrospective equal treatment payments are made to married women who were receiving social welfare payments during the period December 1984 to November 1986.
The person concerned was receiving disability benefit during the relevant period. She received arrears of £1,301 under the equal treatment provisions introduced in 1992. Her entitlement to arrears under the provisions introduced in 1995 has been examined and she is due additional arrears of £5,897.74. A cheque for that amount is due to issue to her on Friday, 23 February 1996.
