Noel Ahern

Question:

184 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the application from St. Michael's secondary school, Wellmount Road, Finglas, Dublin 11 for a physical education-assembly or concert hall; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4048/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 55 and 184 together.

An application, from the authorities of St. Michael's secondary school, Finglas, Dublin 11, for the provision of a gym-assembly facility at the school has been submitted recently to my Department.

The present position is that officials from the planning and building unit are currently considering this application in terms of enrolment, future viability and cost implications.
The school authorities will be notified when a decision has been reached.
