Vol. 461 No. 7

Written Answers. - Disabled Driver Concessions.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

113 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will be granted the special disabled drivers concessions. [3586/96]

I understand that the person in question does not appear to meet any of the specified medical criteria as set out in the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Tax Concessions) Regulations, 1994 and, accordingly, does not qualify for the benefits of the scheme.

As the Deputy is aware, it is a matter of medical judgment on the part of the certifying physician as to whether an individual meets one or more of the particular medical criteria. It would be inappropriate for me to intervene in this independent process.
