Vol. 462 No. 2

Written Answers. - Revolving Door Syndrome.

Tony Gregory

Question:

186 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to ensure that all those convicted of supplying heroin serve their sentences and do not benefit from the revolving door syndrome in Mountjoy Prison, Dublin. [4198/96]

The nature of the offence is one of the main factors taken into account when considering individual applications for temporary release. I can assure the Deputy that my deep concern at the problems posed by drugs and drug dealing in the community is fully reflected in all cases involving the supply of heroin and, indeed, other controlled drugs.
