Vol. 462 No. 2

Written Answers. - Appointment of Gardaí.

Micheál Martin

Question:

193 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Justice if she will have arrangements made to have the necessary resources provided to ensure that community gardaí are appointed to the Grange Frankfield area of Cork. [4295/96]

The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed allocation of Garda personnel and resources to individual areas. I am informed by them that the Grange-Frankfield area of Cork is policed by the gardaí at Douglas station which is approximately one mile away. I understand that the question of allocating a community garda to the Grange-Frankfield area is currently being examined by the Garda authorities.
