Vol. 462 No. 2

Written Answers. - Clondalkin Garda Station.

Eamon Walsh

Question:

198 Mr. E. Walsh asked the Minister for Justice the measures, if any, she has in place to resolve the unsuitable conditions that exist in Clondalkin Garda station, Dublin 22; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4444/96]

The Office of Public Works has recently completed a detailed investigation of the existing buildings and site, to establish whether the station could be adapted or rebuilt to provide adequately for Garda needs in Clondalkin. Neither option is considered feasible and a site for a new station is, therefore, being sought. In the meantime, further routine maintenance works to improve conditions in the present station are being considered. Works currently in hand include replacement of floor covering, some internal painting, replacement of some windows and upgrading heating and shower facilities.
