Question:

252 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the amount of money in the livestock headage fund in 1995; the amount expended in 1995; the reason the balance was not spent; where this money went; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4491/96]

The Estimate for the disadvantaged areas schemes in 1995, as revised by Supplementary Estimates, was £118,571,000.

Expenditure for the year was £118,488,658.43, leaving an unspent balance of £82,341.57, which was returned to the Exchequer.
