Question:

265 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current average annual basic rate of pay and the current average annual gross pay for 50 year old ESB employees. [4542/96]

I am advised by the ESB that the average basic rate of pay for 50 year old employees is £19,836. The average gross pay for 50 year old employees is £24,873.

266 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current average annual gross payroll cost to the ESB for a 50 year old employee, having regard to the average annual gross pay, all company basic costs, namely, PRSI and pension costs, and all benefits provided by the ESB. [4543/96]

I am advised by the ESB that the average gross payroll cost to the ESB for a 50 year old employee is £28,592.

267 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current percentage of basic pay payable by a 50 year old ESB employee in respect of employee pension contributions. [4544/96]

I am advised by the ESB that the current percentage of basic pay paid by employees in respect of pension contributions is 8.5 per cent.

Question:

268 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the amount a 50 year old ESB employee would be required to pay by way of pension contributions as of 1 September 1996; and the amount of the payment as a percentage of the applicable pay rate. [4545/96]

I am advised by the ESB that the percentage of basic pay paid by a 50 year old employee in respect of pension contributions will be 7.5 per cent at 1 September 1996, assuming the implementation of the CCR. This translates into an average amount of £1,522 per annum.
