Written Answers. - ESB Payroll Costs.
I am advised by the ESB that the average basic rate of pay for 50 year old employees is £19,836. The average gross pay for 50 year old employees is £24,873.

Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current average annual gross payroll cost to the ESB for a 50 year old employee, having regard to the average annual gross pay, all company basic costs, namely, PRSI and pension costs, and all benefits provided by the ESB. I am advised by the ESB that the average gross payroll cost to the ESB for a 50 year old employee is £28,592.

Question:267 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current percentage of basic pay payable by a 50 year old ESB employee in respect of employee pension contributions. [4544/96]
I am advised by the ESB that the current percentage of basic pay paid by employees in respect of pension contributions is 8.5 per cent.

Question:268 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the amount a 50 year old ESB employee would be required to pay by way of pension contributions as of 1 September 1996; and the amount of the payment as a percentage of the applicable pay rate. [4545/96]
I am advised by the ESB that the percentage of basic pay paid by a 50 year old employee in respect of pension contributions will be 7.5 per cent at 1 September 1996, assuming the implementation of the CCR. This translates into an average amount of £1,522 per annum.
