Vol. 462 No. 2

Written Answers. - Turning Point Organisation.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

95 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Health if he will review ways in which core funding could be given to the Turning Point organisation, particularly in view of the excellent and dedicated work which this organisation is doing. [4454/96]

Limerick East): Turning Point received a grant of £25,000 in 1995 from the national lottery in order to assist in its work at its Positive Health Centre at 23 Crofton Road, Dún Laoghaire. My Department's health promotion unit has also provided an average of £1,700 per year over the last three years to the organisation for printing its brochures.

A review of cancer services in Ireland by a strategy group in my Department is almost completed. The role to be played by organisations such as Turning Point in the overall delivery of cancer services will be considered in the context of that review.
