Vol. 462 No. 6

Written Answers. - New Garda Station.

Séamus Hughes

Question:

111 Mr. Hughes asked the Minister for Justice when she proposes to proceed with the building of the new Garda station in Ballinrobe, County Mayo, in view of the deplorable condition of the existing station; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5209/96]

The gardaí in Ballinrobe are at present housed in temporary accommodation which is in good condition. In order to provide for longer term needs it is proposed to develop the site of the former station to provide a new area headquarters station. While it is not possible to say at this time when work will commence on this project, it will be progressed as quickly as possible having regard to overall priorities and the availability of finance.
