Question:

139 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Defence the level of pension and gratuity which will apply to married members of the Defence Forces with two children who have completed 21 years service in the rank of Private, Sergeant, Company Quartermaster Sergeant, Company Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel and General; the additional gratuity and pension increment which will apply in the event of a member of these ranks continuing in service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The following table gives the information requested by the Deputy. The rates of pension and gratuity take account of basic/line pay and military service allowance only. Rates of pension and gratuity for each individual rank are the same irrespective of marital status and number of children.
