Vol. 462 No. 6

Written Answers. - Patient Neurosurgery Consultation.

Michael Ring

Question:

62 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Mayo is called for an appointment to see a neurosurgeon in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin in view of the fact that her life is in danger. [5202/96]

Limerick-East): Inquiries were made from the Western Health Board and I understand that the patient in question has been assessed by her consultant in Mayo General Hospital. I understand that a referral to Beaumont Hospital is not considered appropriate in this case. The Deputy will appreciate that clinical decisions on the arrangements for diagnosis and care of patients are matters for the consultants involved in the case.
