Vol. 462 No. 8

Written Answers. - Drumanagh (Dublin) Site Acquisition.

Ray Burke

Question:

125 Mr. R. Burke asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht when the Drumanagh archaeological site, County Dublin will be compulsorily acquired in view of the fact that it is the most valuable Iron Age site in Ireland and it is in private ownership; and the timescale for a detailed scientific and archaeological assessment of this site. [5499/96]

There are no plans at present to compulsorily acquire the site or to undertake a research programme at this time. The site is protected by a preservation order under the National Monuments Acts.
