75 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice whether security measures have been reinstated to pre-ceasefire levels in this State in relation to the provision of scout cars on post office escorts and in the surveillance of subversives in view of the breach of the IRA ceasefire and the current political situation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. It is not the practice to comment on matters of a security nature. The allocation of Garda manpower as between escort, surveillance and other duties is a matter for operational decision by the Garda authorities.
