Vol. 463 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental State Cars.

Dermot Ahern

Question:

340 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment in respect of his Department and each semi-state body and Government-constituted board under the aegis of his Department but with the exception of members of the Government, the persons who are provided with cars at State expense; the offices held by such persons; the number of people employed to drive such cars; the type of use permitted for such cars; and the total cost in each case. [6484/96]

The only persons, excluding Ministers, who are provided with cars in accordance with the terms of the Deputy's question are a number of chief executive officers of agencies under the aegis of my Department. The provision of a car in such circumstances is a matter between these agencies and the chief executive officers concerned and is not, therefore, a matter in which I have a direct function.
