Vol. 463 No. 5

Written Answers. - Research and Development Grants.

Batt O'Keeffe

Question:

121 Mr. B. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the firms who benefited from research and development grants for business expenditure, for higher education and for Government performance of research and development. [6819/96]

The number of firms assisted in 1995 under research and development schemes for the purpose of promoting R & D activity in business and in third level institutions, funded out of the science and technology budget of the Department of Enterprise and Employment, is as follows:

Measure 1

252

Techstart

239

Techman

24

Applied Research and Technology Transfer

63

Details of companies in receipt of grants from the industrial development agencies are generally set out in their annual reports. Details of the above schemes not included in the annual reports are the subject of specific announcements and I will forward details of these to the Deputy.
As regards the element of his question relating to firms "who benefited from ... Government performance of research and development", I would be happy to assist the Deputy further if he would elaborate on the data he is seeking.
