124 Mr. Nolan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the representations, if any, he has made to the European Commission for an increase in our sugar beet quotas for 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6810/96]

Quotas in the sugar sector relate to manufactured sugar. In 1995 the quotas were settled for all member states for the period up to and including the year 2000/2001. The question of an adjustment of quotas does not, therefore, arise at this time.
