Vol. 463 No. 5

Written Answers. - Foreign Policy White Paper.

Michael McDowell

Question:

54 Mr. M. McDowell asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, her Department is taking to promote awareness of the White Paper on Foreign Policy in the country's schools. [6685/96]

It is of course a matter for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to determine the strategy to be used to publicise the White Paper including action in relation to the schools. However, I understand that, in line with Government policy to encourage debate, a sense of ownership and transparency, the Minister for Foreign Affairs has decided to circulate the White Paper on Foreign Policy as widely as possible, including sending it to all second-level schools, regional technical colleges, the Dublin Institute of Technology and the universities. My Department will co-operate fully with any strategy which is decided upon, in so far as it relates to the education sector.
