Vol. 463 No. 5

Written Answers. - Fee Paying Schools.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

69 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, that has been made towards encouraging fee paying schools to enter the free education system; her views on the future role of fee paying schools in Irish society; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6770/96]

As outlined in the Programme for a Government of Renewal, the Government is committed to the encouragement of fee-paying schools to enter the free education scheme.

Progress on this matter will involve discussions with the managerial authorities and trustees of the schools concerned, through their representative associations.
