Question:

101 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding an application by a school (details supplied) in County Cork for various improvements; the estimated cost of these works; and when she will be in a position to grant aid these works. [6791/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 100 and 101 together.

The school applied for an additional classroom at the end of February. The request is currently being examined by my Department's planning section. When a decision has been reached, it will be conveyed to the school management.

An application for various improvement works at the school has also been received. The estimated cost of these works is £10,000. While my Department considers the works to be desirable improvements, it is not possible to provide grant assistance in the current year as the available funds are already committed. The school management has been advised of the position.
