Vol. 463 No. 5

Written Answers. - Kenmare (Kerry) Sports Hall.

John O'Leary

Question:

108 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Education if she will replace the town sports hall which was demolished during the course of preparatory works for the proposed new community school in Kenmare, County Kerry by way of including a replacement sports hall to provide a basketball court and a volleyball court in the new school; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6818/96]

The proposed community school in Kenmare is being developed in two phases. Phase one of the development has been constructed as an alliance type system buildings. A new basketball court has been built and part of the community hall was refurbished.

The architectural planning for phase two has been completed and the sports hall being planned is the standard provision for a school of this size. However, the design of the hall is such as to allow for it to be easily extended in the future.
