Vol. 463 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Freephone Service.

Ivor Callely

Question:

124 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health if he will consider making a free phone service available to the general public who require to make contact with his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6966/96]

Limerick East): An interdepartmental committee is at present examining the implications of providing a local access telephone service for members of the general public making contact with Government Departments. When that committee furnishes its report I will be in a better position to comment on the feasibility of providing such a service.

From time to time my Department provides a free phone service for the general public in connection with particular issues.
