Question:239 Ms O'Donnell asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to fund the establishment of an Irish missing persons helpline; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7243/96]
Written Answers. - Missing Persons Helpline.
The Garda missing persons bureau is responsible for the tracing of all persons reported missing and, as part of this function, liaises with the families concerned. In addition, a number of voluntary agencies are also involved in tracing missing persons and offering counselling to their relatives. In the light of the services available, I have no proposals to fund a missing persons helpline.
