Written Answers. - Army Nurses' Temporary Duty.

276 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Defence the number of nurses from Collins Barracks, Cork, who have been required to do temporary duty at St. Bricin's Hospital, Dublin, in the last 12 months; the amount of money paid for travel and other additional expenses in respect of each occasion; if he intends to continue this practice; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6861/96]

Six nurses attached to the General Military Hospital, Cork were required to perform temporary duty in St. Bricin's Hospital, Dublin during the last 12 months. To date three claims for subsistence have been made and paid as follows: £261.20, £199.99 and £199.99. In addition £160 was paid for travelling expenses.

The deployment of members of the Army Nursing Service is a matter for the Director, Army Medical Corps.
